It is with a heavy heart that I write this post this evening. On Sunday, December 21st, our dear friend and AC180 co-founder Stefan Tarapchak passed away. Those that have followed AC180 since it’s beginning know that Stefan accepted the battle of stage IV colon cancer with honor, courage and fought like a warrior. While none of us, in our finite understanding, will ever be able to explain the ways and workings of an infinite God, we can testify to the strength of Stefan. His faith never waivered, his mission was clear. Stef’s journey touched lives both in person and throughout the world wide web. He lived the vision of AC180.

He loved his children and was a committed Dad.

He loved his wife and was a committed Husband.

He loved people and was a committed friend.

He loved Jesus and brought God glory.

On a personal note, I would say that when Stef and I cast the vision for AC180 in my home office, we had no idea that this journey was on the horizon. I now understand that God, in his providence, was creating a band of brothers and online community of support that would mean so much to Stefan in his battle. The contributors to this blog supported Stef through prayer and email. We linked arms and hit our knees as a band of brothers. Each contributor was a cherished friend to Stefan. I cannot put into words what your support meant to Stefan.  I cannot thank you for what your prayers meant to me. I would ask now that you support Stef’s wife Sandi and their 3 children through your prayers and love.

To each of you that have commented, emailed and sent text with your condolences, I thank you. I look forward, with great anticipation, to the day when our spirits will sour as we meet one another. More than that, I look forward to the day when our time, our thoughts, our hearts and souls will worship the almighty. Because he conquered the grave, Stefan is forever home where there is no sorrow and no pain.

Well done my good and faithful servant.

We will miss you brother.

The longer version of the story is that WordPress.com charges for domain mapping. As you have probably seen the posting at AC180 has dropped off significantly which would not justify the need to pay for the domain mapping. We’re still here and posting, but we lose our one year domain mapping on June 6th. Bottom line…

I’ve been in touch with a national organization called PodCamp, who is hosting a free “UnConference” here in Columbus (ITT Institute in Hilliard) in a few weeks. I helped them design the event guide (photo), and I will actually be speaking to other bloggers, podcasters, and media professionals in a session that day. I really want to share the message of Christ through technology, and this will be a great opportunity for just that.

An “UnConference” allows for the visitors to jump into a session and leave if they want to go check something else out. There’s always a new fad for everything I guess. In my opinion, it’s just a result of our generations losing our patience and having more trouble with our attention span. Pray that the Spirit grabs a few people’s attention! Below is an overview of my session.

Technology often seems impersonal, but it is actually one of the best ways to share who you really are and what is most important to you. Our faith is just as much a part of our life’s story as anything else, so why miss out on some of the best opportunities to share it with others.

Creating revenue through your media is great, but by focusing so much on that we might be missing out on rewards that are eternal. Come and hear examples of how you can make this happen through podcasting and other new media.

OK, I know the Final Four is over, Kansas has the Crown, and the boys of summer are hard at work, but here’s one last hurrah for Hoops. This is probably the most amazing dunk I’ve seen since Spud Webb won the dunk contest in 1986… (yeah, remember the little guy?)

My mother-in-law, Patty Farmer(shown in picture holding baby) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about two months ago. She went in for surgery last Thursday, and suddenly took a turn for the worse, this afternoon. That is all I know. My wife called me from work to tell me an hour ago. I could hear the fear in her voice. It really bothered me. I turned to prayer, and immediately thought of my brothers here. It has been awhile since I have been around these parts, posting or otherwise. I didn’t hesitate in the least.

 Join me in prayer for my family, and most importantly, my mother-in-law, Patty.

Long time no post! (sorry) … but wanted to be the 1st to say “congrats” to Kansas on their win tonight!  I’d picked UNC, but loved the excitement and passion that Kansas put into the game Saturday night, so they were my pick tonight, even though I’m a Southern Boy, and would’ve normally pulled for a TN team.

Congrats, Kansas!

No matter what you do for a living, there’s one job that all fathers share. Dads of all ages have at least one thing in common – they’re role models for their children. Even if you don’t want to be – you are.

This is another quote that was on the paper that I got. I like this quote as well because many times I have thought that I should do something and then not done it. I have thought about saying one thing and then say nothing.  I have wanted to stand up for what I believe in and then I did nothing because I feared what other people would say if I did. If those three things, what you think, speak and act aren’t in harmony it is hard to have happiness.

In my Global History class we are studying Gandhi right now. The other day we were given a paper with a a letter that Gandhi wrote and on the back it had several quotes from him. One of those quotes was…

“An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind” -Mohandas Gandhi

This quote is great because it is very true. There are many people that are always seeking revenge for something that someone has done to them. Many people want to get even instead of forgiving. Forgiveness is one of the things that God blessed us with through sacrificing his son. So we should bless other people by forgiving them. Forgiveness is not always easy to give to people but it still should always be given. Hate is a dangerous thing to hold in. If someone does something wrong to you, confront them and tell them how you feel. Tell them that you forgive them.

It is easier to take revenge than it is to forgive but it is better to forgive than it is to take revenge. Jesus tells us, “if someone strikes you on the right cheek turn to him the other as well” (Matt. 5:39). We need to be willing to turn the other cheek and not hit them back. We need to be willing to forgive and not take revenge
