So Barry finally did it. I’m not even going to go into all the Roids talk. Below are just some random thoughts from the night that belonged to Barry Bonds.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but if you were watching ESPN2 at 10:00pm, I thought for sure we were about to see another “Heidi” moment. Couldn’t believe that the WNBA game that was on before the Giants game went to double overtime. It was like nails on a chalkboard. Luckily it ended in time for his first AB.
I guess I can cancel my sleep deprivation appointment now. These West Coast games have been killing me.
I thought the video from Hammerin’ Hank was a nice touch. Too bad he wasn’t there, but part of me gets the reason why he wasn’t.
I thought his salute to his family was nice and his speech seemed heartfelt. Acknowledging even the Nationals was a class move.
What’s up with mentioning everyone but your Godfather, the very man standing right beside you, Willie Mays?
Isn’t it so telling, so appropriate that he thanked his dad last? Man that was powerful.
This might be the only time that I didn’t want to throw a brick through my TV as I watched Bonds stand at home plate and watch his homerun leave the yard. Matter of fact, that image of him with his hands raised will be a lasting one.
Time will tell how tonight will go down in history, but at least I can say I remember where I was the night that Barry broke the record. I can also say that I went to bed about 15 minutes afterwards…

[...] A Complete 180 points out that we almost had another “Heidi” moment. [...]
yeah it is very very cool
Didn’t see it. Don’t care. Momma said if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything. Well, I do have 1 nice thing to say.
Hank Aaron is a class act.
I have already expressed my thoughts on Barry & Bobby in previous posts on this and my personal blog. I missed it as well, I am sorry I did. But, I’ll tell you I am not sorry for the reason I did. I was probably driving back across town after ministering/mentoring/discipling to a friend.
HATE him, DISLIKE him, LIKE him, LOVE him, or “I don’t really care one way or the other”, he is still the home run champ (for now).
Now lets get real: It’s Baseball. I don’t know about you but I have more important things to worry about then getting all hot and heavy about Barry Bonds. Don’t get me wrong, I love baseball (ok, just my Cubbies). Let us as men turn our focus on important things like: God, Wife, Children & Work. The more focus we put on these things the better life is. Then we can just enjoy the extra’s like baseball or whatever you enjoy.
Kurt – sounds like you were the one with the homerun.

Brian – Great Point
David – So true about Kurt’s “homerun”. Wish I could say that is where I was.
Jeremy – Very good follow up with Cal and Big Mac. I too was glued to my set in 97. That was one of the greatest memories I will ever have associated with baseball. Mac and Sosa going back and forth. It wasn’t about color of skin, Roids, or any of the other noise that has clouded this run. It was just special. Tainted as it is now, for that time, for that summer, I enjoyed every single minute of it.
